Well it’s time to get your diaries out and get booking in all the great events of 2010.
2009 saw the very first Thornton in Craven Safari Supper. Although many greeted this with trepidation, all were pleasantly surprised at how fantastic an evening it was. It became a ‘must do’ for 2010. Already I have put things in motion having a date set of Saturday 27th March and already have a very encouraging take up rate. Of course this event was and always will have, a limit on participants. Hopefully we can get some more residents on board, but it will be on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
For those of you unfamiliar with this event, here is the format:
Saturday 27th March. We all meet at the Village Hall at 6.45 pm PROMPT
Please note that people doing starters need not meet, just be ready for your 6 guests to arrive at 7.00pm
Only when the starters are finished will the host open their envelope to reveal where everyone goes for their next course. Of course if you are doing fish you will know you have to get home to receive your 6 different guests. You will be expected to be at your fish course for 7.50pm
The same will happen for the main course and you will be expected to arrive there at 8.40pm
You will have a bit more time to chew over the main course and will be expected to arrive for dessert at 9.40pm
Remember, you will only know where your next course is as each course is completed. Expect to drive to some of your courses but hopefully you will be in ever decreasing circles to finally arrive at the Village Hall for 10.30 till 11.30ish
Recap:
Meet 6.45 prompt
Starter 7.00
Fish 7.50
Main 8.40
Dessert 9.40
Party 10.30
Maps and directions to assist will be provided. Also, more information will be sent as and when it becomes available.
Until the final number is confirmed and Debbie and I sit down to sort out the ‘who, where and which course’ . You will not know any more. However, if you have any questions or special requests, then please get in touch with me at pbowdler@aol.com
Some more exciting news regarding this Summers Fair will be with you before too long.
Don’t forget it’s the Casino night on Saturday the 6th February
Best Regards
